When I was looking at this underpainting for inspiration I saw horses (I found 3 - can you?). I also was thinking of how it reminded me of Roses. It reminded me of the commission piece I did several years ago when Rachel Alexander ran in the Kentucky Derby as the first filly in that event and won it. I knew about it in advance of the Derby so I watched and photographed the race and the horse. I decided to pay tribute to this filly today by painting her again.
